About Me

Portrait of Jiachen Luo

I am an Assistant Professor and Master's Supervisor at the School of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering, Dalian University of Technology (DUT). My research focuses on wave propagation, topological control, and intelligent design in architected materials and structures.

I study phononic crystals and wave metamaterials, mechanical topological states, topological waves in curved and complex geometries, structural topology optimization, and AI-assisted inverse design. My goal is to connect topological mechanisms, intelligent design methods, and engineering applications, particularly in aerospace systems, low-altitude aircraft, advanced acoustic devices, and vibration and noise control.

My research includes curvature-enabled topological phase transitions, topological pumping in continuous media, on-chip topological surface acoustic waves, and inverse design of structures with tailored wave functionalities. I have published several SCI-indexed papers, including first- and corresponding-author articles in leading journals such as Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, Extreme Mechanics Letters, and Nanophotonics.

I currently lead an NSFC Young Scientists Fund project (Category C) on the coordinated design and performance control of on-chip topological surface wave devices. I also work on structural optimization and vibration and noise control for major engineering systems.
